In his column of September 4 in The Times, Dr Alfred Sant said "and at the Central Bank the search is on for a foreign appointee to take the task of chief economist since no Maltese is considered suitable for the role".

The Central Bank would like to point out that this assertion is factually incorrect in all aspects.
