A Hamrun man was yesterday jailed for six months and fined Lm400 for the possession of cocaine for sale.

Carmelo Vella, 27, pleaded guilty to the possession of drugs in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use on and before March 10, 1999.

Magistrate Noel Cuschieri noted Vella's clean criminal record and the positive report compiled by social worker Josette Camilleri.

Police Inspector Neville Aquilina prosecuted.
