Five projects under EU's Youth programme

Five organisations involved with young people yesterday signed up to the EU's YOUTH programme, after their projects were approved by the Youth Coordinating Committee following a call for proposals last June.

The organisations are the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, St Lawrence Spurs, Guardian Angel special needs school, the Zebbug Sta Marija band and Sedqa.

The contracts were signed yesterday in the presence of the parliamentary secretary for youth, Jesmond Mugliett.

A total of Lm14,300 has been allocated to the projects by the EU.

The foundation's project is one which looks at employment, entertainment and education among youths with special needs in Europe.

St Lawrence Spurs has joined up with 36 youths from Sweden and Italy for the Euromeet programme on sporting activities.

The Guardian Angel school will host 25 British youths to conduct research on special needs.

The Zebbug band is tackling the cultural theme of linking people through music, while Sedqa is organising a seminar in Malta on professionalism at work for 60 participants.
