Conrad Spiteri won the first edition of the Best Business Plan Competition, organised by Junior Chamber (Malta) and sponsored by HSBC Bank Malta and KPMG.
The winner was announced during an awards presentation held recently at the Westin Dragonara Resort in the presence of Economic Services Minister Josef Bonnici.
Mr Spiteri received his Lm1,000 prize from HSBC and KPMG which were represented by Timothy Fitzpatrick, director at HSBC and Joseph Schembri, managing partner at KPMG.
In addition to the prize money, HSBC and KPMG will also be providing Mr Spiteri with banking and assurance services on favourable terms.
Mr Spiteri's Business Plan, a combination of mobile phone technology together with a refined version of PDA (palm device application) technology, will now be JCM's official Malta entry to the international Best Business Plan of the world competition organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI).
The winner of the JCI Best Business Plan of the World Competition will receive a free airline ticket to Las Vegas, Nevada, to attend the 2002 JCI World Congress. This will include accommodation at the legendary MGM Grand Hotel plus US$5,000 cash award of start-up funds for launching the business described in the winning plan.
The runner-up in JCM's inaugural Best Business Plan Competition was Brian Azzopardi, who was presented with a consolation prize of Lm250.
Junior Chamber International (JCI), Inc. is a worldwide federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40.
Junior Chamber has been represented in Malta since 1995 and annually organises a variety of activities.
