Gozo inspires British artist

British artist Bridget McCrum is holding an exhibition of bronzes, pastels, drawings and photographs in the main hall of St James Cavalier from Saturday to October 20.

The artist has a farmhouse in Gozo, the island she says has inspired most of the works she is exhibiting.

Ms McCrum, who also resides in Devon, said that much of her work is inspired by the flight of birds and the landscape around her two houses. She said "the gentle curves within the hills of south Devon, and the stark limestone cliffs carved by wind and sea on Gozo" have subconsciously affected her work.

She has also been influenced by the stone carvings of prehistoric cultures, including those of Malta's temple period.
