European Union membership would, on balance, be a favourable development in the environmental and cultural heritage areas, Din l-Art Helwa said in its July newsletter.

The organisation said that as a non-political organisation it did not express a public view on political issues, including the EU.

"Our advice is that the balance in the environmental and cultural heritage fields favours Malta's entry to the EU."

Din l-Art Helwa said that in order to reach a considered judgment, individuals should weigh up all the answers to questions such as whether Malta would be better able to meet its current and future environmental challenges through being a part of the EU.
