Charged with violent, indecent assault

A Qormi man was yesterday charged with violently and indecently assaulting a woman in St Julian's last Sunday.

Gordon Grech, 25, pleaded not guilty to violent, indecent assault and offending public morals in Sacred Heart Avenue, St Julian's on Sunday at about 8.15 a.m.

He was also charged with threatening PC Walter Sargent and PC Susanne Sapiano at the police station and breaching the conditions of a previous release.

Grech was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm500.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.

Dr Michael Sciriha and Dr Ian Farrugia appeared for the defendant.
