Reference is made to the report on the parliamentary sitting discussing the Courts and Tribunals Procedures Bill. The Malta Olympic Committee feels duty bound to clarify the details on the alleged case of sexual abuse mentioned in the report.

The Malta Olympic Committee never had an alleged case of sexual abuse in its own ranks or involving one of its contingents competing in games under its aegis. The alleged case mentioned happened in a national federation that was competing in an international tournament outside Malta that was not under the aegis of the Malta Olympic Committee. Furthermore, the federation concerned reported that the person who had made the claim withdrew the complaint through a written communication.

The origins of this alleged case of sexual abuse within the Malta Olympic Committee stems from an inaccurate report that was broadcast and published elsewhere in the local media. The Malta Olympic Committee had already issued a similar release to clarify the facts.
