During the last meeting of the Malta Basketball Association Executive Council, the draws for the new season were held.

The first official MBA competitions get underway on September 15 with the Super Cup finals. The women's final will be played between champions Depiro Still and Hibs Go Mobile. The men's competition will be contested by Pembroke Athleta, the champions, and Siggiewi.

The MBA Shield is next in line on the MBA calendar and this event is reserved for men, women and Division One men.

The competition starts with the game Mellieha vs Depiro from Division One. This tie is scheduled for September 20. Luxol and Gozo will open the women's Shield competition two days later with the Hamrun Liberty vs Stingers Basket match to follow from the men's category.

During the same meeting, a change in titles for the junior sections was approved. This move brought the MBA junior ranks in line with those approved by FIBA.

What was previously known as U-20 will now be known as Young Men and Young Women. As from this season, the U/17s will be referred to as Junior Men and Junior Women and the U/15s will be officially known as Cadets.
