Mgarr ix-Xini, an almost unknown bay until it came under the spotlight not long ago, is once again being mistreated.

One weekend I decided to go down for a swim at the quiet bay there.

Unfortunately, the only quiet aspect of my afternoon was my own silent fuming.

The bay was filled with motorboats and speedboats, many of which insisted on playing their stereos at full blast.

Adding insult to injury were the actions of the boat owners themselves, throwing rubbish like cigarettes and peanut shells into the sea, while at the same time saying what a beautiful bay it is!

And one must not forget the jet-skis entering the bay, right in the middle of the swimming area, making it dangerous for anyone taking a dip.

Is there nothing to stop these boats and jet-skis from entering the bay, recklessly putting others' lives in danger, or are we waiting for an accident to happen before we do something about it?
