Two people had to be rescued by the Armed Forces from the reef known as is-Sikka is-Safra, near Bahar ic-Caghaq, when their 20-foot cabin cruiser ran aground on Saturday night at about 10.15 p.m.

The rescue team rushed to the scene when the AFM operations centre received a report that the cabin cruiser hit the reef and that it had two persons on board, a man and a woman, with the woman reportedly not able to swim.

A Swift class patrol craft that happened to be on coastal patrol at the time was also directed to head to the area. The AFM also sent a rigid hull dinghy from the divers' troop.
