A Labour government's commitment towards Gozo would be real, Labour leader Alfred Sant said on Friday.
Speaking at a social activity in Victoria, Dr Sant said the Prime Minister was at the moment boasting that the EU had accepted Gozo as a region but the Labour Party had shown that this was not true.
The Labour Party, he said, did not need Brussels for Gozo to be treated as a region. Decisions could be taken by the Maltese and Gozitans together for the Gozitans to feel that decisions which affected them were taken in their interest.
Dr Sant said that work which the Labour Party had been carrying out in Gozo by the Labour government had been stopped in the past four years.
This work would go ahead once again under a new Labour government.
