A Zurrieq man was yesterday charged with committing three thefts within the past month.

Francois Cumbo, 21, pleaded not guilty to stealing Josef Haber's personal belongings worth less than Lm100 and gold rings worth about Lm12,000 to the detriment of Antonia Willis and Alexander Willan from a beach in the limits of Qrendi on July 3 and August 7, respectively.

He also pleaded not guilty to stealing over Lm100 worth of items including a Nokia mobile phone, three debit cards and an identity card belonging to Rayvin Saliba from a beach in the limits of Siggiewi on July 28.

Cumbo was also charged with handling stolen property and possessing a pointed instrument without a licence.

He was granted bail against a Lm200 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm500 on condition that he attends a drug rehabilitation programme.

Police Inspector Walter Spiteri prosecuted.
