Water Services Corporation workers yesterday approved a new collective agreement, which had been the subject of a long-standing dispute between the corporation and the General Workers' Union.

The union had first ordered industrial action last May following a disagreement over wage increases and then followed it up with a series of other actions.

Section secretary Josephine Attard Sultana told WSC workers that the union and corporation had agreed upon gradual increases, with wages rising to Lm4.25 a week by 2004 for workers in scales seven to 14, and to Lm4 a week by 2004 for those in scales 15 to 20.

The new collective agreement also improves working conditions.
