Two men were slightly injured at their place of work in separate accidents yesterday, the police said.

The first accident took place at the site of the Mater Dei Hospital at 10 a.m. when a 29-year-old steel worker from Msida was slightly injured when stone blocks, which were being secured to be hoisted up by a crane, fell on him. He was taken to hospital.

The other accident took place in Floriana at 11 a.m. when a 24-year-old man from Siggiewi was fixing the ceiling soffit in a shop in St Anne Street and part of a slab fell on him.

The man was taken to St Luke's Hospital with slight head injuries and was kept under observation.

Members of the Health and Safety Unit were called to both sites and police are investigating.
