Rashid Chouhal and Tanya Blake will represent Malta in the European athletics championships.
According to a Malta Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA) statement, Blake recently received the IAAF's green light to run for Malta in this event. This evening, Blake will participate in the 800m heats.
Also today, Chouhal will compete in the 100m heats, starting at 10.45 a.m. On Thursday, Chouhal, who was a member of Malta's contingent in the Manchester Commonwealth Games, will also take part in the long jump qualifiers.
The two Maltese athletes are being accompanied by MAAA coaching co-ordinator Geoff Ward in Munich. Later on this week, MAAA president Anthony Chircop and general secretary Edwin Attard will also travel to the Bavarian capital to attend a meeting of the Amateur Association of the Small States of Europe (AASSE).
The AASSE's participation in the Bruno Zauli European Cup and the GSSE in Malta will be discussed during the meeting.
