The Labour Party's national executive has approved the party's environmental policy document after five meetings during which 140 proposals were moved and incorporated to the original document.
The document will now be discussed on a district basis with party delegates, members and activists.
The party has also received a number of positive reactions to the document from several individuals and interested organisations.
The document shows what a new Labour government would do to safeguard the environment after the next election. Environment, it said, was one of its utmost priorities.
The party felt bound to ensure that the environment was improved in everybody's interest, not least those who did not have the means to escape from a shabby environment whenever they were fed up of it, and those who had to live in a dangerous environment.
The party said there was much to learn from more developed countries but the Maltese had to solve their country's environmental problems.
