¤ The feast of St Joseph is being celebrated in Qala today.
Masses will be celebrated on the hour from 5 to 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. and at 5.30 p.m. Concelebrated Pontifical Mass, led by Gozo Bishop Nikol Cauchi and the panegyric performed by Fr Martin Cilia, MSSP, will be held at 8 a.m.
Marches, performed by the St Margaret Band, will be held at 11.30 a.m. Solemn vespers, performed by Mgr Lawrence Xerri, will be held at 6.30 p.m. followed by marches performed by the Ite ad Joseph and Mnarja Bands at 7 p.m.
A procession with the statue of the saint, led by Senglea Archpriest Canon Joseph Grech, and with the participation of the Ite ad Joseph Band, will be held at 7.30 p.m. The Mnarja Band will also perform on Qala's main square. It will be followed by a Eucharistic celebration and marches performed by the Santa Maria Band.
The festivities will be aired on Lehen il-Qala on 106.3 FM.
¤ Celebrations marking the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady start in Victoria today.
Marches will be performed by the Leone Band from the parish centre to the Cathedral square at 9.30 a.m. Fr George Mercieca will read a poem he wrote for the occasion, Santa Marija... warda ta' mhabba.
Mass, celebrated by Fr Martin Cilia, MSSP, for couples who got married in the past year and for those celebrating their 10th, 20th, 25th, 40th and 50th wedding anniversaries, is being held at the Cathedral at 6.15 p.m. It will be followed by a reception at the Cathedral annex.
Tomorrow, Cathedral parishioners will visit the sick and elderly at Gozo General Hospital and at private clinics. A party for the elderly will also be held at the annex of the Cathedral at 8 p.m.
On Thursday, a traditional meal to mark the feast, organised by the Leone Band, is being held near the parish centre at 8.30 p.m. Tickets at Lm4.50 and Lm2.50 for children may be obtained from the centre or from the band club.
On Friday, a ceremony for the presentation of newborns, with the participation of children's choir Fjur ta' Assisi, will be held at 7.15 p.m. A barbecue for the children of the parish will be held at 8 p.m.
¤ Activities for all are being held on San Lawrenz main square all week.
Today, games, with the participation of teams from Malta and Gozo, are being held at 5.30 p.m.
Tomorrow, an evening of traditional songs, with the participation of Fredu Abela (Iz-Zejtuni), Patrick Vella (Il-Germaniz), Frans Cachia (Il-Budaj), Toni Spiteri (Il-Gemel), it-Tirel of Birkirkara and guitarist Ganni Saliba of Birzebbuga, is being held at 9 p.m.
On Tuesday, Nar Gejt Inqabbad, a musical by Fr Gerald Buhagiar and Fr Louis Bezzina, with the participation of the San Lawrenz drama group, is being held at 9 p.m.

On Thursday, a Lejla Lawrenzjana, sponsored by San Lawrenz council, compered by Mary Grech, Charles Saliba and John Demanuele and with the participation of Pamela Bezzina, Fabrizio Faniello, Ira Losco, the Yada Dance company and James Bondin, is being held at 9 p.m. The Palma musical award will also be presented.
On Friday, the Precursor Band will perform marches at 9.30 p.m.
On Saturday, a short procession with the relics of St Lawrence will be held at 7 p.m. followed by Concelebrated Mass, led by Vicar General Mgr John B. Gauci. Marches, performed by the St Joseph and La Stella Bands will be held at 9 p.m. followed by a fireworks display.
¤ A pasta night, to raise funds for Gozitan missionaries working in third world countries, is being held at Palazzo Margherita, Sannat, on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Tickets at Lm2.25 and Lm1.75 for children may be obtained by calling: 2155-8668 or 2156-1766.

¤ An outing to attend the feast of St Lawrence in Vittoriosa, organised by the Outdoor Festivities Committee of December 13 Street, is being held on Saturday. The ferry leaves at 4.15 p.m. Tickets at Lm2.25 may be obtained from the Nadur parish offices or from committee members.
¤ An outing to Malta, organised by the St Gregory Band of Kercem, is being held on August 14. The ferry leaves Mgarr Harbour at 6 p.m. For more information contact the band's helpers.
¤ A celebration of traditional songs and dance, L-Ghanja ta' Karolina, organised by the Gozo Cultural Council in aid of the Arka Respite Centre, is being held on Xlendi promenade on August 23 at 9 p.m.
