EAN Malta, the sole bar-coding and numbering authority in Malta, which is currently finalising an internal restructuring reorganisation programme, will shortly be offering more services and forge stronger relationships with fellow member organisations across the globe.

A new board of directors - David Calleja Urry, Godwin C. Micallef, Alex Borg, Antoine Mallia, Lorenzo Mulè Stagno, Ray Grech, Joseph Tanti and Mario Pace - was also set up. Mr Calleja Urry was elected chairman, Mr Micallef now occupies the post of vice-chairman and Mr Mallia is executive director.

At this year's general assembly in Vienna, EAN International further supported Malta's active role in Electronic Business Standards by presenting Mr Calleja Urry, Mr Micallef and Mr Mallia with a plaque commemorating EAN Malta's 10th anniversary and announcing that EAN's International General Assembly 2005 would be held in Malta.

EAN, based in Ta' Xbiex, represents the interests of Maltese businesses to EAN International, the global standards organisation managing the EAN.UCC system worldwide, the system which enables the identification and communication of information related to products, services, utilities, assets, transport units and locations.
