The 240-strong Voices choir will be conducting a clean-up of the area around Torri San Lucjan, Marsaxlokk, on August 10.

Each Voices choir member will be collecting individual sponsorships for the event, which is being held with the support of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority and the Ministry for Resources and Infrastructure. The general public is invited to support the initiative.

This year's Voices fund-raising concerts are scheduled for a record 10 nights in October at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, and Voices has once again received tremendous support from Vodafone, their title sponsor.

However, the costs incurred in putting up the concert over 10 nights are enormous, with a substantial proportion going to the hiring of the Mediterranean Conference Centre's auditorium.

The policy guiding the Voices endeavour has always been to hand over all proceeds from ticket sales to various local and international charities, with costs for the actual event covered entirely through corporate sponsorships.

All choir members, choir directors, band members and committee members give their time and effort on an entirely voluntary basis.

While hoping that further support from more local commercial companies will be forthcoming, the Voices team has also decided to raise funds to cover a proportion of the costs while again doing something constructive for society.

Cheques may be addressed to Voices, and sent to The Voices Committee, c/o Gael, St Michael Street, St Julian's.
