Thomas Galea, chairman of Megabyte Ltd, and John Portelli, chairman of the eMalta Commission, have signed a sponsorship agreement, by which Megabyte will be part funding the efforts of the eMalta Commission in its mission to educate all Maltese citizens in the use of telecommunications and information technologies to obtain better service from government.
The agreement was signed earlier this month at Megabyte's premises at the Mosta Technopark in the presence of Dr Austin Gatt, Minister of Justice and Local Government, who is responsible for the eGovernment initiative.
"This sponsorship clearly demonstrates Megabyte's outward commitment to participate and assist in the commission's mission to help bridge the digital divide, as well as to help in breaking down the barriers in the use of technology" John Ambrogio, Megabyte's general manager, said.
The eMalta Commission was set up to drive the identification, promotion and co-ordination of the initiatives required for the attainment of an information society and economy in Malta. The commission has taken a broad approach, addressing the various sectors of society and economy. It is driving the creation of an awareness of the electronic world and the benefits that Malta can derive from it.
"We are honoured to be involved and wish the eMalta Commission success in the accomplishment of its goals," Mr Ambrogio said.
