Restoration work is to start this week on the belvedere outside the recently restored Couvre Port in Vittoriosa, Infrastructure Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said.

He said that the works on Couvre Port were carried out between January and the beginning of this month, at a cost of about Lm60,000.

The restoration was done by workers in the ministry's restoration unit together with two Italian restorers who had also worked on the façade of St Catherine of Italy church in Valletta.

The project forms part of the embellishment of the entrance to Vittoriosa.

The Cottonera Rehabilitation Project had also made improvements to the ditch, where a number of rooms and war shelters were being misused.
