The Malta Press Club said it was analysing cases in which people were arraigned in court because of their journalistic work.

It said that as an organisation representing the majority of journalists in Malta, it was collecting information about the cases before adopting a position.

However, it said, it would not seek to interfere with the independence of the judiciary.

This exercise was expected to help in the ongoing drawing up of a position paper on the subject.
