Local tennis player Rosanne Dimech and A. Linde of Sweden yesterday had to settle for second place in the girls' doubles event from the ITF junior world ranking tournament after they lost to E. Fernandez (Spain) and F. Guercia (Italy) 6-4 6-3 in the final.

The final was played on the last day of the tournament which drew the praise of the delegations present at the Marsa Sports Club for its superb organisation. In all, 20 countries were represented.

The boys singles' title went to Jack Baker of the UK. He beat Dane Jacob Melskens 2-6 6-2 6-3. Fernandez also won the girls' singles event. She overwhelmed Timma Ticic (Croatia) 6-1 6-3. The boys' doubles title went to Melskens and compatriot Tori Deleuran.

The Malta Tennis Federation was strongly backed by the Marsa Tennis Section. Benny Vidal was the referee in charge as other assistance came from the Officiating Committee within the federation.
