Bail was granted to two of the four men arraigned on drug charges following three raids by police on Tuesday which netted them a haul of close to 400 ecstasy tablets, over 1.7 kilos of cannabis resin and 13 grammes of cocaine.

Ian Ciantar, 21, of Swieqi, was granted bail against a deposit of Lm3,500 and a personal guarantee of Lm3,000 after Magistrate Noel Cuschieri heard the police say they had no objection to him being granted bail because he had been of great help to them.

Ciantar was charged with the possession of ecstasy and cocaine, the possession of cannabis resin in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use and the consignment of psychotropic drugs.

Rio Micallef, 18, of Marsa, was granted bail against a deposit of Lm2,000 and a personal guarantee of Lm3,000. He was charged with the possession of ecstasy in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara is prosecuting.

Dr Joseph Giglio is appearing for Micallef while Dr Franco Debono is appearing for Ciantar.
