21 animal cruelty reports
The police have so far this year received 21 reports of cruelty to animals and arraigned 11 persons on such charges, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Mr Noel Farrugia (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.
He said there were 31 reported cases of animal cruelty in the whole of last year and 15 arraignments. There were 10 reports and six arraignments in 1999 and 13 reports and five arraignments in 1998.
