Prime Minister visits member companies

Through the collaboration of the Malta Federation of Industry, the Prime Minister, Dr Fenech Adami, continued his official visits to FOI member manufacturing companies by visiting the FOI members at the Mosta Technopark, as well as Metallform (Malta) Ltd. during June, and Methode Electronics Malta Ltd earlier this month.

FOI vice-president Ian Mizzi accompanied the Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Services Professor Josef Bonnici during their visit to the Mosta Technopark.

At this visit, Henry J. Borg, chairman of the Mosta Technopark Tenants Association (MTTA) and general manager/company secretary at Sicons Opto-Products (Malta) Ltd, explained the important functions and various initiatives implemented by the MTTA.

FOI president Joseph Zammit Tabona accompanied the Government delegations during the visits to Metallform (Malta) Ltd and Methode Electronics Malta Ltd. Ian Restall, general manager at Metallform, announced that the company was planning to expand its operations. Mr Restall explained that the company is a subsidiary of German Metallform GmbH and specialises in the assembly of sterile, disposable infusion and filter lines for paediatric use.

During the visit to Methode Electronics Malta Ltd, managing director David Mifsud announced that the company had just won an order for the provision of automotive switches worth approximately E150 million. Mr Mifsud explained that Methode Malta supplies electrical switches to prestigious and world renowned car-makers including General Motors, Ford, Jaguar, Mazda, BMW, Rover, Volkswagen and SAAB.
