The annual Farsons Great Beer Festival, this year in its 22nd edition, is being held at Ta' Qali National Park between Friday, July 26, and Sunday, August 4, starting every day at 8 p.m.

The entertainment, spread on all the ten days of the beer festival, is aimed to suit the mood of this event, which has been a yearly appointment for many Maltese and tourists alike. Various activities and events, including 44 different performances on two stages, have been organised. And, as in previous years: entrance is free.

"This year's beer festival is set to break records in being the biggest and most diverse festival organised in Malta. It is a fun festival with an array of live entertainment by top local bands and DJs," said Farsons general manager - marketing, Ray Grech.

The main feature of the festival, is of course, the beer. The largest range of local and international award-winning beers will be served from 12 different bars. Maltese and tourists will have the opportunity to taste great quality beers, including the local ones produced by Farsons. These include Cisk Lager, the new Hopleaf Smooth 'n' Creamy and Blue Label Smooth 'n' Creamy. International beer brands include Carlsberg, Budweiser, Guinness and Beck's.

Visitors can also savour Cisk Export, the premium beer which last month won the gold medal in the European Style Pilsner category of the World Beer Cup 2002 held by the Association of Brewers in Ohio, USA, and the gold award in the international section of the prestigious Australian International Beer Awards.

Apart from the variety of beer and food stalls serving various international cuisine, the festival is featuring 36 local and foreign guest artistes giving 44 performances.

They include Ira Losco, the William Mangion Show Band, Fabrizio Faniello, Filletti & Friends, Freddie Portelli, Mary Rose Mallia, Mike Spiteri, Gianni & Colin (Rug), Tiara, Corkskrew, Red Band, Joe Cutajar, Just James, Philip Vella, Country Brothers, Bitterside, Shostakovich's Nightmare, Bean Growers, Spooky Monkey and Fakawi, among others.

There will be local bands such as Skyn, Soul Domain, Lumiere, So Chronic, Boys Next Door, Tabooz, and Crosswalk, to name a few. Every night a DJ will perform after each band keeping the music going till the early hours of the morning. These include J-Joy, Malcolm B, Miss Roberta, Pierre Cordina and Owen Jay.

A special section of the festival caters for children, who can enjoy games such as the Pepsi Penalty Shoot outs and the Pepsi Shot Power Game. Animators will be keeping the kids busy with various games while parents can wonder off to the bar for a beer.

Although Ta' Qali National Park has ample parking facilities, the Farsons Vintage Bus will be going around the car park to pick up and drop off, free of charge, those attending the beer festival.
