The Association of Car Importers (ACIM) has elected a new council for 2002/2003. Jeffrey Mizzi of Mizzi Organisation is the new president and Johann Cuschieri of FMC Motors Ltd the new honorary secretary.

ACIM, which is composed of the principal car importers in Malta, provides consultative and advisory services in car importation, particularly new policies and EU directives. As an alliance it also serves to promote negotiation and/or arbitration for the settlement of any industrial disputes on behalf of its members.

Decisions with respect to ACIM affairs are taken through the direct participation of all its members.

One of ACIM's objectives this year is to promote safety on Maltese roads. It also intends to address environmental and regulation issues relating to cars.

The association thanked outgoing president William Shaw for his sterling contribution to ACIM.
