Seven youth volunteers aged between 20 and 28, led by Fr Mario Abela, of the Augustinian Missions Commission, will be flying to Brazil in a week's time for missionary work in Sao Paolo and Parana for six weeks.

They will be working among poor and sick children and Aids sufferers, and in day centres catering for some 800 children daily.

The young people have been working for months on fund-raising activities but more funds are needed.

Donations may be sent to Fr Abela of the Augustinian Fathers in Lampuka Street, Tarxien.

The last fund-raising activity will be held today in the form of an entertainment evening at the Argotti Gardens in Floriana starting at 6 p.m.

There will be tombola followed by singing, music, dancing and puppet shows.

Taking part, among others, will be Miriam Christine Borg, Maryrose Mallia, Renato, Augusto Cardinale, Mini Bugz (Mini, Griz and Profs), Olivia Lewis, Triccas, Fabrizio Faniello and Scream Daisy.
