The fifth edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival was inaugurated on Sunday with a piano concert by duo Natascha Chircop and Marco Rivoltini at St George's Basilica.

The concert was the first in the series of events which will unfold in the coming two weeks in different venues in Victoria, particularly at St George's Basilica and at the Astra Theatre.

The festival programme includes 16 concerts, 11 masterclasses and three competitions.

The organisation behind the festival is in the hands of the Laudate Pueri Choir of St George's Basilica, which has gained for itself a reputation both for its performing and the cultural initiatives it has taken.

The opening concert was followed by a performance by the Joe Vella Saxophone Quartet on Monday.
