The Archbishop, Mgr Joseph Mercieca, is in Catania to attend the episcopal consecration of former colleague and old friend Mgr Michele Pennisi, rector of the Capranica College, an international seminary in Rome.

Since the Auxiliary Bishop, Mgr Annetto Depasquale, is also abroad, the duties of the archbishop are being carried out by Mgr Carmelo Zammit, Curia Chancellor.

The Curia said as Mgr Mercieca is abroad, his meeting with 18 volunteers who will be providing a missionary service in Guatemala, originally planned for Thursday, has been postponed to July 13 at 10 a.m.
