The International Air Rally of Malta came to a successful end yesterday with the last of the 32 participating aircraft flying in.
Unfortunately, a British plane, a 1955 Auster Aiglet - a much anticipated arrival - was stranded in Italy after it developed problems in its undercarriage.
Eight countries were represented in the rally. A Maltese entry dropped out at the last minute.
"We had an impressive 19 aircraft from the UK. This year we had a good mix of newcomers and regulars," rally administrative secretary Liz Vella said.
Most of the aircraft arrived on Saturday, while another five arrived yesterday.
Those taking part were tested for their precision flying and navigation through a flight planning competition. The aircraft were also judged by experienced concours d'elegance judges for the upkeep and safety of the aircraft.
The winners will be announced at the San Gorg Corinthia, St George's Bay tomorrow.
