An industrial dispute between the Water Services Corporation and the General Workers' Union is to be referred to an industrial tribunal as negotiations have failed, WSC chairman Michael Falzon said yesterday.

He said the union's latest proposal was not accepted by the government.

The dispute is over a new collective agreement to replace the one which expired in December 2000.

A series of industrial directives over the issue started on May 13 and have led to delays in the repair of faults, sometimes by a number of days.
