Victoria council has welcomed a revision of the controlled parking scheme introduced last November, saying the changes would prove beneficial to residents, the commercial community and the public.

The scheme had created two zones: Zone A where people could park for one hour, and Zone B where they could park for two hours.

All areas previously in Zone B are now free from restrictions.

Zone A has been reduced to the central area of the city where most of the shops, government offices, schools and commercial banks are situated. Parking in this zone has been extended to one and a half hours.

Fontana, which had been part of the scheme, has no parking restrictions now.

During summer time, the parking restrictions apply in the mornings of working days only.

The car parks adjacent to the bus terminus are not subject to any restrictions.
