The Labour Party strongly believed in the need for reforms in the Local Councils' Association because the existing regulations led to a permanent political imbalance in favour of the Nationalist Party, the MLP said.

The imbalance was leading to a reduction in the autonomy of local councils and was hindering the implementation of local electoral programmes, it said.

The MLP said the issue had been created by the PN and the subject would be discussed in international and regional fora.
