Twenty-four Gozitan businessmen were yesterday found guilty of breaching VAT regulations and fined Lm4,700 between them.

Another 14 people were fined Lm140 between them for contempt of court after they failed to appear when summoned.

The VAT sitting, presided by Magistrate Giovanni Grixti, was convened to hear cases of failure to file returns, keep journals or issue fiscal receipts.
