A man yesterday sued the Casinò di Venezia claiming the companies which run the casinò had failed to pay him for his services.
Carlo Cardinale filed a writ of summons in the Civil Court against Vittoriosa Gaming Limited and the Casinò Municipale di Venezia SpA.
He claimed he had been instrumental in bringing the Italian company to Malta and that, as a result of his efforts, the foreign company had invested in the country by becoming a majority shareholder in Vittoriosa Gaming Limited.
Cardinale claimed he had held a number of meetings with the parties and with the authorities so that this investment would occur.
He had continued to provide services to both defendant companies by bringing over foreigners to gamble at the Vittoriosa Casinò and he had participated in a number of meetings with the hotels involved.
Cardinale added that he was entitled to be paid for the services he had rendered and requested the court to condemn defendants to pay him for the work he had carried out.
Dr Joseph A. Schembri signed the writ.
