The Court of Criminal Appeal has confirmed two judgments finding Olaf Cini guilty of forgery and fraud.
Mr Justice Vincent DeGaetano confirmed a Magistrates' Court judgment handed down on March 7, jailing Cini for three years and eight months for forging cheques.
Cini, 41, of Paola was also found guilty of defrauding Lipstick Modelling Agency and Maritime Selmun Palace Hotel, and forging the signature of his employer, Martin Webster of Owners Direct on several cheques stolen from Webster's cheque book.
The cheques included one for Lm270 addressed to Lipstick Modelling Agency, two cheques for Lm1,500 and Lm37,332 addressed to Premier One International Promotions, a cheque for Lm300 addressed to Mincott Company Limited and two cheques for Lm238 and Lm196.66 addressed to Maritime Selmun Palace Hotel.
Cini was also found guilty of committing a crime during the operative term of a suspended sentence.
Mr Justice DeGaetano also confirmed another judgment handed down on March 22, jailing Cini for two years, again for forgery and fraud.
Cini was found guilty of stealing a cheque book from his lawyer's office and forging Dr David Camilleri's signature on cheques.
He was also found guilty of defrauding the now defunct newspaper The People of Lm500, The Phone Shop of Lm20 and 3K Supermarket of Lm104, forging a cheque for Lm137 payable to APC Travel and another for Lm92.50 payable to Avantech Limited.
