Flamenco Trilogy will be produced by Alegria at Ta' Qali amphitheatre on July 20 and 21 at 9 p.m.
Alegria Academia Flamenco, under the direction of Rosanna Maya, and Nicola Henson of the Classical Ballet School, are currently preparing a show including music, song and dance, with special guests, a guitarist and a singer from Spain.
The opening act is a dance interpretation of the creation taken from the book of "Genesis". The choreography by Rosanna Maya to the music of Manolo Sanlucar, one of Spain's foremost contemporary composers, has strong flamenco overtones.
"After the Flood", in the second act, is a classical ballet choreographed by Nicola Henson. This relates the proceedings of the flood when Noah sends out the birds to see if the water has subsided. The music is by Enrique Granados with excerpts from Valses Poeticos.
The show ends with "Flamenco Puro" and special guest artists.
Alegria Academia Flamenco is again presenting three scholarship awards: in classical ballet, in Flamenco, and the Comsec International Scholarship Award.
The scholarship allows a promising student to attend the prestigious Festival de Jerez in Spain to greater enhance understanding of the art of flamenco.
Tickets are on sale from July 1 from Best Western Les Lapins, Ta' Xbiex. Further information may be obtained on 9944 0451, 9944 7818, 342 555.
