A couple whose home was extensively damaged in an explosion inside a garage underlying their Fgura maisonette earlier this month yesterday sued the garage's tenant for damages.

Sabrina and Chris Buckland filed a writ of summons in the Civil Court against Edgar Grima over the damage to their house in St Simon Street on June 7.

They claimed the damage to their house was caused through Grima's negligence and failure to observe regulations. Grima was the tenant of the garage below and he was manufacturing petards, they claimed.

They called on the court to declare that Grima was responsible for the incident and to condemn him to pay them damages.

Dr José Herrera and Dr Edward Zammit Lewis signed the writ.
