Rob Swire, the head physiotherapist at England Premier League club Manchester United, will deliver a lecture on sports injuries tomorrow at the Fortina Spa resort, Sliema.
Swire's lecture will focus on groin injuries as well as the effects of injuries on balance. The lecture, starting at 6 p.m., provides local physios, doctors, athletes and anyone interested in the subject of sports injuries, with a good opportunity to enhance their knowledge on treatment of injuries.
"Clubs develop their own techniques how to treat players recovering from injuries. These are not run-of-the-mill treatments found in books but specialised ways of rehabilitation. Swire is an expert in exercise physiology and his experience and knowledge in the field of sports injuries will ensure a highly-informative lecture," Alan Zammit, Director of Rehabilitation at the Fortina Spa, told The Times.
During his visit to Malta, Swire is also expected to run the rule over the treatment facilities offered by the renowned Fortina Spa after the recent announcement of the agreement with Manchester United over the rehabilitation of injured players.
England defender Gary Neville, currently recovering from a foot injury, was the first Manchester United player to avail himself of the Fortina Spa services and facilities when he was in Malta a few weeks ago to launch his second soccer schools.
