Three men were yesterday fined Lm950 between them for theft from cars.

Jackson Bird, 26, of Tarxien, Ivan Pace, 24, of Fgura and Mark Ellul, 21, of Fgura, pleaded guilty to breaking into the cars of Maria Rosa Busuttil Dougall, Silvio Falzon and James Bonello and stealing cash and other items worth more than Lm100 in Swieqi on February 6, 2000.

They also pleaded guilty to trying to break into cars belonging to Suzanne Micallef and Simon Said and damaging all five cars.

Bird, a gunner, was also charged with committing a crime he was duty bound to prevent and relapsing. He was fined Lm350 while Pace and Ellul were fined Lm300 each.

Police Inspectors Simon Galea and Noel Cutajar prosecuted.

Dr Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici appeared for the men.
