The container ship MV Suez Canal Bridge called at the Malta Freeport yesterday for the first time.

The 68,600-gross ton vessel, with a carrying capacity of 5,600 containers, is K Line's first post-Panamax vessel.

The line's carriers are using the Malta Freeport as their central Mediterranean hub.

The Suez Canal Bridge has a service speed of 25 knots, improving transit times significantly. Singapore to Malta can be covered in 11 days and it would take five days from Malta to Rotterdam.
