The police are looking for a short-haired man in his 30s they believe was involved in a stabbing incident in Zejtun on Sunday afternoon, police sources said.

Two cars were involved in a collision in Triq ic-Cawsli at about 5.30 p.m. on Sunday and one of the drivers got out and stabbed the other driver, the sources said.

The victim, Louis Baldacchino, 44, of Fgura, had gone out of the car to look at the damage.

Relatives told police they saw Baldacchino being stabbed in the chest with a knife "some 30 cm long".

He was taken to hospital in an ambulance and released yesterday after an operation.

The sources said Baldacchino was stabbed twice, through the right shoulder and in his upper left arm.

The man being sought by police was wearing a grey vest and black and white trousers last Sunday afternoon and was driving a beige car damaged on the front.

He was in the company of a young woman.
