A Libyan man was yesterday conditionally discharged for 18 months for damaging a car in St Julian's last Sunday.

Salem Tamer Ahmed Ben Ali, 35, pleaded guilty to causing less than Lm50 damage to Joseph Vella's Peugeot at about 3.45 a.m.

The police alleged that Ben Ali lacked the means to finance his stay in Malta.

He is to be deported.

Police Inspectors Robert Gregory and Sandro Zarb prosecuted.
