The Malta Drydocks chairman has informed workers in a newsletter that apprentices are to be recruited on a permanent basis in both shipyards, the drydocks council said.

Apprentices will be taken on following consultations with the Employment and Training Corporation and given three-year sponsorships.

The apprentices will be designated to both 'yards.

The recruits will be taken on board as soon as an agreement is reached over the reforms in work practices so that they are not taught antiquated techniques which are harming the progress of Maltese 'yards, the council said.
