Justin Haber, the Malta U-21 goalkeeper currently at the centre of transfer speculation, is not a free player according to his club Floriana FC.

A Floriana FC spokesman told The Times that Haber is registered with the Malta Football Association as a Floriana FC player and his contract does not expire this year.

"Haber is not therefore free to sign with any other club without the specific written consent of Floriana," the spokesman said.

Haber has been linked with a move to Birkirkara but the Floriana official said no club has approached them for such a transfer.

"Floriana has made this position amply clear to the MFA in writing as also copied to Haber.

"Floriana representatives have met Haber on various occasions and have not been informed of any break-up in their relationship."
