Our local council should be ashamed for boycotting the programme Xarabank, and if the MLP made them sign a document saying that they must boycott the programme then they are not working in the interests of the Maltese nation.
Yet, Mr Farrugia is always at the forefront working to make Birzebbuga a better place.
For after years of neglect by all political parties we have to thank Mr Farrugia and the local council for doing their utmost to protect our interests and lifestyles.
It is only through dialogue, public awareness and finally action that we will see an end to this problem.
The people of Birzebbuga (and the surrounding voting district) of all political colours are fed up being the island's scapegoat as for years we have put up with pollution seeping into the bay, the 24-hour operations of the Freeport, living under the used flight path, gas depot and, in Marsaxlokk, the power station.
What do we get now - the proposal of a landfill within an area that is arable land, has both tourist and historical interests, and is within less than a kilometre from both the government and private housing estates.
I believe that our local council should be proud of the work they have done so far and that the MLP have to realise that they ( the local council) are working for all of Birzebbuga and not just MLP ideals, and they should get on with the job in hand.
