Minors charged with car theft

Two Naxxar youths allegedly stole a car but were apprehended by the police as they collided with another car shortly afterwards.

The youths, aged 16 and 17, were yesterday charged with stealing a car to the detriment of Andreas Nelles, of Naxxar. The 17-year-old was charged with driving a car without a licence and insurance cover and with being involved in a traffic accident and involuntarily causing damage to another car.

He was further charged with refusing to give his particulars.

The court was asked to disqualify the 17-year-old youth from holding a driving licence for at least a year.

Inspectors Simon Galea and Dennis Theuma prosecuted.
